Low Mood & Mild Depression
Reviewed by the Nimbera editorial team · Last updated May 2026
Low mood and mild depression involve persistent feelings of sadness, low energy, reduced motivation, and diminished enjoyment of activities. It exists on a spectrum from transient low mood to diagnosable major depressive disorder. Natural interventions may provide meaningful relief for mild-to-moderate presentations, but should not replace professional evaluation.
Seek immediate medical help if you have thoughts of self-harm or suicide, or if symptoms severely impair work or relationships. See a doctor promptly if low mood persists beyond 2 weeks or is worsening. Do not use St. John's Wort with SSRIs or other antidepressants - this combination can cause serotonin syndrome, a potentially life-threatening condition.
