Sleep and Circadian Rhythm Recovery
Reviewed by the Nimbera editorial team · Last updated May 2026
How to use
Fix wake time first - set a consistent rise time 7 days per week regardless of how tired you feel. Get 10-15 minutes of outdoor light within 30 minutes of waking. Eliminate screens and bright overhead lights after 9 pm. Target 7.5-9 hours in bed. Practice a 10-minute wind-down ritual (dimmed lights, herbal tea, slow breathing).
How it works
The cortisol awakening response is the HPA axis's primary daily reset. Disrupted sleep - particularly loss of slow-wave and REM stages - weakens hippocampal glucocorticoid feedback, causing cortisol to remain elevated in the afternoon and blunting the normal morning peak, perpetuating the burnout cycle.
Where to buy
No purchase required. Optional: blue-light blocking glasses ($20-$60), a dawn-simulation alarm clock ($30-$80), blackout curtains ($25-$60).
Typical cost: Free to low cost
Safety notes
If you experience chronic insomnia alongside burnout symptoms, address sleep with a qualified clinician before layering supplements. Sleep disorders such as sleep apnea can independently drive HPA dysregulation and will not respond to lifestyle measures alone.
