Moderate evidenceFree to $10
How to use
Apply moisturizer to affected skin. Dampen cotton gauze or old cotton clothing in warm water, wring until just damp. Wrap over moisturizer. Layer dry clothing or bandage over the wet layer. Leave on 2-8 hours or overnight.
How it works
Maintains skin hydration, cools inflamed skin, and enhances penetration of topical treatments. Studied in both children and adults for moderate-to-severe flares.
Where to buy
Cotton gauze from pharmacy. Old cotton t-shirts or socks work for smaller areas.
Typical cost: Free to $10
Safety notes
Do not use on infected skin. If using with prescription topical steroids, discuss with a doctor first - wet wraps significantly enhance absorption.
