How to use

Eat cooled cooked rice, potatoes, or pasta (cooling increases resistant starch 2-3x). Supplement with 10-20 g/day of raw potato starch (start with 1 tsp and increase gradually) or psyllium husk (5-10 g before meals with a full glass of water). Prioritize legumes, oats, green bananas, and barley in the diet.

How it works

Resistant starch passes undigested to the colon where fermentation produces short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), particularly butyrate, which improve insulin sensitivity and reduce hepatic glucose output. Soluble fiber forms a gel in the gut that slows carbohydrate absorption and blunts post-meal glucose spikes.

Safety notes

Increase intake gradually over 2-4 weeks to avoid gas and bloating. Psyllium can interfere with absorption of certain medications if taken at the same time - space by 2 hours. Raw potato starch should not be heated (cooking destroys resistant starch). Consult a physician before high-dose resistant starch use if you have a digestive disorder.
