Pumpkin Seed Oil
Reviewed by the Nimbera editorial team · Last updated May 2026
How to use
Take 1000 mg (1 g) pumpkin seed oil capsules daily with a meal, or use 1 tablespoon cold-pressed oil in food or smoothies. For topical use, massage a few drops directly into the scalp nightly. Consistency for at least 6 months is important.
How it works
Rich in delta-7-sterols which inhibit 5-alpha reductase and block DHT binding at follicles. Also contains zinc and phytosterols that support follicle health and reduce scalp inflammation.
Where to buy
Health food stores, natural grocers, Amazon, iHerb. Look for cold-pressed, unrefined oil. Brands: NOW Foods, Jarrow, Sports Research.
Typical cost: $15-25/month
Safety notes
Generally very well tolerated. May slightly lower blood pressure. Very high doses could theoretically interact with blood pressure medications. Choose cold-pressed to retain active phytosterols.
