Omega-3 EPA
Reviewed by the Nimbera editorial team · Last updated May 2026
How to use
Take 1,000-2,000 mg/day of EPA-dominant omega-3 (at least 60% EPA content). Look for "EPA-dominant" fish oil or pure EPA products. Take with a fatty meal. Effects accumulate over 4-8 weeks.
How it works
EPA reduces neuroinflammation by competing with arachidonic acid in eicosanoid synthesis, lowering pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-6, TNF-alpha) that are elevated in depression. EPA also modulates phospholipid composition of neuronal membranes and may enhance serotonergic neurotransmission.
