Myo-Inositol plus Selenium
Reviewed by the Nimbera editorial team · Last updated May 2026
How to use
Common regimen is 600 mg myo-inositol combined with 83 mcg selenium once daily, taken for about 6 months. Often sold as a single combination powder or capsule. Reassess TSH with your doctor after the course.
How it works
Myo-inositol is a second messenger in the TSH receptor signaling pathway, so restoring it can improve how thyroid cells respond to TSH. Paired with selenium's antioxidant and antibody-lowering effects, the combination targets both the signaling defect and the autoimmune inflammation of Hashimoto's.
Where to buy
Online and specialty pharmacies, often marketed for thyroid or fertility support. Example brands: Lo.Li Pharma Tirosel, Theralogix, Fairhaven Health MyoInositol combined with a separate selenium.
Typical cost: $20-$40 per month
Safety notes
Keep total selenium under 400 mcg/day if adding other selenium sources. Myo-inositol may cause mild nausea or loose stools at higher doses. Not a replacement for levothyroxine in overt hypothyroidism. Consult a doctor if pregnant, as inositol is also used in pregnancy for other reasons.
