Hydrolyzed Collagen Peptides (Verisol)

Reviewed by the Nimbera editorial team · Last updated May 2026

Proksch 2014 Skin Pharmacol Physiol (PMID 24401291) - double-blind RCT, 114 women aged 45-65, 2.5 g Verisol daily for 8 weeks produced a statistically significant 20% reduction in eye wrinkle volume vs placebo, plus 65% higher procollagen I and 18% higher elastin in treated skin.$25-$50 per month for a 2.5-10 g daily dose

How to use

Mix 2.5-10 g of hydrolyzed collagen peptide powder into water, coffee, or a smoothie once daily. Look for products specifying Verisol or PEPTAN branded peptides, which are the forms tested in skin aging clinical trials. Take consistently for at least 8-12 weeks before assessing results.

How it works

Orally ingested collagen peptides are digested into di- and tripeptides (notably Pro-Hyp and Gly-Pro-Hyp) that are absorbed intact, reach the dermis, and stimulate fibroblasts to upregulate production of procollagen I, elastin, and fibrillin. This restores dermal extracellular matrix density lost to aging.

Where to buy

Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides (uses PEPTAN), Youtheory Collagen, Garden of Life Grass Fed Collagen (check for Verisol or PEPTAN on label). Available at Amazon, Costco, Target, and most health food stores.

Typical cost: $25-$50 per month for a 2.5-10 g daily dose

Safety notes

Generally well tolerated. Derived from bovine or marine sources - not suitable for vegans or those with fish/shellfish allergies (check source). Not a substitute for sunscreen. Rare reports of digestive discomfort; take with food if this occurs. Quality varies widely - choose brands that specify the peptide source by trade name.
