Fish Oil (Omega-3 EPA/DHA)
Reviewed by the Nimbera editorial team · Last updated May 2026
How to use
Take 2-4 g of combined EPA + DHA per day with a meal containing fat to improve absorption. Choose enteric-coated capsules to reduce fishy aftertaste. Use as an adjunct to prescribed treatment, not a replacement.
How it works
EPA competes with arachidonic acid for cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase enzymes, shifting eicosanoid production toward less inflammatory leukotrienes and prostaglandins. This may dampen the hyperactivated immune response in psoriatic skin.
Where to buy
Pharmacies and supermarkets worldwide. Look for molecularly distilled products certified by NSF International or IFOS for purity.
Typical cost: $15-$40 per month at therapeutic doses
Safety notes
High doses (>3 g/day) can increase bleeding time - consult your doctor if you take blood thinners or NSAIDs. May cause fishy belching, loose stools, or nausea at high doses. Avoid cod liver oil as the primary source at therapeutic doses due to vitamin A toxicity risk.
