Fenugreek Seed Extract
Reviewed by the Nimbera editorial team · Last updated May 2026
How to use
Take 400-600 mg of standardized fenugreek seed extract daily, ideally with meals. Most trials last 8-12 weeks. Look for extracts standardized to furostanolic saponins.
How it works
Fenugreek contains furostanolic saponins (including protodioscin) that are thought to inhibit enzymes (5-alpha reductase and aromatase) that convert testosterone to dihydrotestosterone and estrogen, thereby preserving free testosterone levels.
Where to buy
Health food stores, iHerb, Amazon - look for standardized extract products (Testofen is a commonly studied branded form).
Typical cost: $15-$30 per month
Safety notes
May have blood sugar-lowering effects - use caution with diabetes medications and monitor glucose levels. Avoid in pregnancy (may stimulate uterine contractions). Can cause mild GI upset or a maple-syrup body odor in some individuals.
