How to use

Take 100-200 mg of ubiquinol (the reduced, more bioavailable form) or ubiquinone daily with a fatty meal to improve absorption. Start at 100 mg/day for 4 weeks, then increase to 200 mg/day if needed. Allow at least 8 weeks before judging effectiveness. Particularly relevant if you take statin medications (which deplete CoQ10 levels).

How it works

CoQ10 is a required electron carrier in the mitochondrial electron transport chain (complexes I, II, and III), which is central to ATP production in every cell. Statins inhibit the mevalonate pathway, which synthesizes both cholesterol and CoQ10, causing measurable CoQ10 depletion. A systematic review in PMC (PMC9495827) found CoQ10 at 100-300 mg/day reduced fatigue and muscle pain in statin users. Studies in healthy volunteers showed reductions in fatigue at 150-300 mg/day.
