Curcumin (Bioavailable Form)

Reviewed by the Nimbera editorial team · Last updated May 2026

A randomized placebo-controlled trial found oral curcumin (Meriva, 2 g/day) combined with topical steroids reduced PASI scores and serum IL-22 more than steroids alone in psoriasis vulgaris patients.$25-$55 per month

How to use

Take 500-1,000 mg of a bioavailable curcumin formulation (Meriva, Theracurmin, or BCM-95) twice daily with food. Standard curcumin powder has very poor absorption - choose a phospholipid complex or nanoparticle form.

How it works

Curcumin inhibits NF-kB signaling, reduces IL-17, IL-22, and TNF-alpha expression, and suppresses keratinocyte hyperproliferation - the three core drivers of psoriatic plaque formation.

Where to buy

Thorne Meriva-SF, Life Extension Super Bio-Curcumin, or Jarrow Curcumin Phytosome. Available at health food stores and online.

Typical cost: $25-$55 per month

Safety notes

May interact with blood thinners and chemotherapy drugs. High doses may cause GI upset. Avoid in gallbladder disease. Use bioavailable forms only - plain turmeric spice has insufficient therapeutic concentration.
