How to use

Aim for 30 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise (brisk walking, cycling, swimming) at least 5 days per week. Drink 1.5-2 liters (6-8 cups) of water daily - more in hot weather or during exercise. Exercise in the morning or after meals when intestinal motility is naturally higher. Establish a consistent daily bathroom routine.

How it works

Aerobic exercise stimulates intestinal peristalsis by increasing splanchnic blood flow and activating the enteric nervous system. Physical movement also reduces colonic transit time. Adequate hydration keeps stool soft and pliable; dehydration causes the colon to absorb more water from stool, making it hard and difficult to pass.

Safety notes

Exercise alone may be insufficient for constipation caused by slow-transit or pelvic floor dysfunction - medical evaluation is needed in these cases. Fluid intake above 2 liters per day provides no additional benefit for constipation unless dehydration is present. Caffeinated beverages do not substitute for plain water.
