How it works
Beta-sitosterol is a plant sterol that inhibits prostate cell proliferation and reduces local inflammation. It modulates androgen receptor activity and interferes with the conversion of cholesterol to DHT within prostate tissue.

Health food stores and online retailers - brands such as Source Naturals or NOW Foods carry standalone beta-sitosterol; it is also found in saw palmetto complex formulas

Safety notes
Long-term safety data beyond 18 months is limited. Does not shrink the prostate. May mildly lower cholesterol - inform your doctor if you are on statins. Not a substitute for alpha-blocker or 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor therapy in moderate-to-severe BPH.
