B-Vitamin Replenishment (B-Complex + Hydration)
Reviewed by the Nimbera editorial team · Last updated May 2026
How to use
Take a B-complex tablet providing at least 50 mg thiamine (B1), 50 mg B6, and 400 mcg folate before going to sleep after drinking, alongside 500 ml of water or an electrolyte drink. Repeat in the morning if symptomatic.
How it works
Alcohol is a diuretic that promotes urinary excretion of water-soluble B vitamins, and it directly impairs intestinal thiamine transport and hepatic B-vitamin phosphorylation. Replenishing the B-vitamin pool - especially B1, B6, and B12 - supports mitochondrial energy production and may ease fatigue and cognitive fog.
Where to buy
Pharmacies and supermarkets. Any B-complex providing 50-100 mg of the major B vitamins is suitable. Electrolyte drinks (Liquid IV, Nuun) cover hydration. Pedialyte is an accessible pharmacy option.
Typical cost: $8-$20 per month for B-complex tablets
Safety notes
B-vitamin supplementation does not prevent alcohol-related harm and should not be used to justify drinking. Megadoses of B6 (above 200 mg/day long-term) can cause peripheral neuropathy. Do not exceed stated doses.
